How to Pick a Great Forklift Counterweight?

Jul. 16, 2020

Several kinds of forklifts, fork trucks or lift vehicles are used for material handling.

Their main function is to transport materials of different sizes, shapes and weights onto the fork.

Forklifts are usually classified according to the following parameters:

• Power type (electric or internal combustion)

• Location name (indoor or outdoor)

• Operator position (standing or sitting)

• Tires (inflated or inflated)

During lifting and transporting heavy loads, forklifts need extra weight to ensure balance.

Forklift Counterweights

Counterweights were added to prevent the forklift from tipping over. Even if the counterweights used in the material handling industry are much smaller than those used in the off-road industry, they should have the required weight.

The usual counterweight forklifts are standing forklifts and sit-balanced forklifts. The seated counterweight type usually places the counterweight between or behind the rear wheels. Standing mounts are small enough to slide through narrow aisles and carry their weight inside the carriage. Heavier designs may have removable materials for easy transport.

The counterweight of forklift truck is mainly divided into two categories:

1. Body shape: A specially designed body part at the back.Instead, a single gold casting or hollow metal container with a mixture of concrete and metal.

2. Stack type: Flame cut cast metal plates are stacked on top of a substrate or existing bulk. Stacking or removing the panels allows for weight variations. It can stack up to six panels, each of 2.5 tons.

Both types of Forklift counterweights have proven to be highly reliable and safe solutions.

In addition to design, every manufacturer should focus on the choice of materials.

Cast iron counterweight is the best choice. Due to the relatively small size of the forklift, the balance weight needs to have the best space utilization while providing the necessary balance weight. This can only be achieved by using dense materials such as metals, especially cast iron.

Inexpensive materials (such as concrete or a mixture of concrete and metal bits) cannot do this because they take up more space under the same weight goal.Concrete will need to be made denser by adding aggregates or scrap metal, pellets or bars. However, the density of cast metal will always be higher than that of aggregate or mixed concrete.

Shengjian Prosperity USES only high-density metals, which provides the best conditions to limit counterweight weight while maintaining a high quality level. The Forklift Counterweight supplier foundries are equipped with state-of-the-art tools and experienced personnel.
